Coach--the last thing we want to do is make things harder for you. Over time we will be compiling
a list of "Tips" given from other coaches that will help make this process as effective and
streamlined as possible. The goals will always be to maximize the fundraising while minimizing
the work. Scroll down for some suggestions we've already received...
How to Help Maximize Funds Raised:
-
Give added incentives to your athletes for the top individual fund raiser or for all who reach a certain level of funds raised-Examples we've heard of that seemed to work are:
For the top individual fund raiser or for all who reach a certain level of funds raised-
-
Coach for the Day (do you dare?).
-
A day off from conditioning (a favorite).
-
Free team shirt, bag, etc...
For a team goal reached
-
No conditioning for the day (see above).
-
All day scrimmage.
-
Pizza party or such for the team.
(Send us your other ideas - we'd love to hear them.)
-
Set perhaps two prices: a "desired" price designed to maximize the fundraising and the number of games we can film for you and a "minimum" price to ensure more people are able to participate. When your supporters donate via PayPal they will just enter either amount (or even an amount between the two--we just verify that the minimum is met).
-
Try to make this fundraiser cover all additional costs - families should each buy a season pass but no other out of pocket costs.
-
Alumni are a good group to ask as well.
Video Tips (in case you're filming your own)
-
For most sports you want the camera to be in the middle of the venue up above shooting down. For baseball and softball it seems the best place to set up is behind home plate, off-center (up above if possible), following the ball as it is put in play (see #3).
-
Have your videographer simply follow the action from half-field, court, pool, etc...and simply move the tripod back and forth.
-
Don't zoom in and out! This creates a much larger file and often the overall action will be lost.
-
Make sure your videographer stops recording at quarter or half breaks only. Each stop/start creates a separate file to upload. As you upload you can name each part if desired (Q1, Q2, etc...).
-
Remind your videographer that everything they say will be heard!
-
Get creative and assign a couple kids to give a play-by-play.
-
Have the videographer film the scoreboard every so often.
